How to tell if your paint is Enamel or Acrylic?

How do I know if the paint on my walls is enamel or acrylic?

Pour some methylated spirits onto a rag and rub onto a small section of the wall.

The metho will not be able to lift enamel paint, but will clean away acrylic.
